FoxTalk partners with University of Denver’s Daniels College of Business
Daniels business students are developing fundraising strategies for the Colorado student newsroom, with final presentations scheduled for Nov. 16.
DENVER — Oct. 27, 2026 — FoxTalk, an independent nonprofit newsroom led by Colorado college students, has partnered with the University of Denver’s Daniels College of Business on a student case competition focused on funding the newsroom’s growth.
Students in a Daniels management class taught by adjunct faculty member Jason Hansen are developing fundraising proposals for FoxTalk. Their assignment is to find ways to fund operations support that would help coordinate student reporters, assignments and publication.
“Instead of working from a hypothetical case, they’re developing recommendations for a growing nonprofit newsroom and experiencing the kind of collaboration and client engagement they’ll encounter in their careers,” Hansen said.
“To have the University of Denver’s Daniels College of Business working with FoxTalk in our first year is a major milestone,” said Andy Green, FoxTalk’s founder and editor-in-chief. “The students are taking on a real funding challenge that will help shape how our newsroom grows.”
Green and FoxTalk employer and institutional outreach coordinator Alex Winn introduced the case to Daniels students on Oct. 21. The teams are scheduled to present their recommendations to FoxTalk representatives on Nov. 16, when a winning team will be selected.
Founded in 2026, FoxTalk brings together college journalists from across Colorado. Its reporting is published at readfoxtalk.com.
