About FoxTalk
Selective access. Statewide influence.
FoxTalk is an independent, student-led Colorado nonprofit newsroom that puts selected student journalists in direct conversation with gubernatorial nominees, Fortune 500 leadership and national institutional leaders. We organize on-the-record interviews, convene exclusive student press forums and create reporting opportunities that reach far beyond a single campus.
In our first year, eight Colorado college newsrooms published original reporting from FoxTalk-organized events, representing over half of the 15 active college newsrooms we've independently verified statewide. FoxTalk has also appeared in at least 11 outside news, media, entertainment and journalism-industry publications and newsletters, including The Denver Gazette, Colorado Politics, Sentinel Colorado, KGNU, Sundance Visitor Guide and Inside the News Colorado.
Since its March 2026 launch, FoxTalk has over 35,000 views across its platforms and over 1,000 followers and subscribers.
FoxTalk is not simply following Colorado's student-media agenda. It helps set it.
Our mission is to make student journalists competitive for positions at leading Colorado and national newsrooms and media employers. We do that through consequential assignments, direct access to people making major decisions, strong editorial judgment and work that can stand alongside professional reporting.
Convening Colorado's student press
In September 2026, FoxTalk brought Sundance Film Festival Director Eugene Hernandez and Sundance Institute Managing Director Paula DuPré Pesmen together with reporters from five Colorado college newsrooms for an on-the-record press conference ahead of the festival's Boulder debut. All five newsrooms published original stories. The following month, FoxTalk secured a live interview with Republican gubernatorial nominee Victor Marx and selected campus reporters for question slots.
Student publications at Metropolitan State University of Denver, Colorado State University, the University of Colorado Boulder, the University of Colorado Denver, the University of Northern Colorado, Front Range Community College, Pikes Peak State College and Colorado Mesa University have published reporting from FoxTalk-organized student press events. Each newsroom made its own reporting and publication decisions.
Direct interviews with national and state leaders
In business and technology, FoxTalk has directly interviewed Nvidia board director Mark Stevens, Denver Metro Chamber of Commerce President and CEO J.J. Ament, and Smithsonian Enterprises executive Denise Elliott. FoxTalk also questioned Dave Bozeman, CEO of Fortune 500 logistics company C.H. Robinson. Epic founder and CEO Judy Faulkner provided a direct written response to FoxTalk's questions.
In government and public affairs, our interviews have included former NASA Administrator Jim Bridenstine and Colorado higher education chief J.B. Holston. During the 2026 Colorado governor's race, FoxTalk interviewed both major-party nominees, Democrat Phil Weiser and Republican Victor Marx, as well as unaffiliated candidate Greg Lopez.
Its original reporting included the early disclosure of former Vice President Mike Pence's expected recurring visits to Colorado Christian University, before the university announced his visiting-faculty role.
Experienced journalism leadership
FoxTalk's founding board includes SPJ Colorado Pro President Doug Bell and former Denver Post Managing Editor Linda Carpio Shapley, a 2026 Denver Press Club Hall of Fame inductee. Both bring experience from Pulitzer-winning Denver Post reporting. Bell has trained FoxTalk contributors in reporting and editorial judgment, and FoxTalk's editor-in-chief led a roundtable at the Colorado Press Association's 2026 annual conference.
Founded at the Community College of Aurora in 2026, FoxTalk now brings together contributors from Colorado colleges and universities, including CU Boulder, MSU Denver, the University of Denver and Community College of Aurora. The newsroom covers politics, business, technology, and culture, with reporting designed to matter beyond college boundaries.

FoxTalk operates independently and is not an official website or communications channel of the Community College of Aurora or the Colorado Community College System.
