**DENVER** — FoxTalk brought student journalists from across Colorado into a live, on-the-record press forum with Victor Marx, the Republican nominee for governor, on Wednesday, Oct. 21\. The virtual interview gave campus reporters an opportunity to ask their own questions less than two weeks before Election Day.

In fewer than four days, 25 students from eight Colorado colleges signed up for the event. Those institutions were **Colorado College, Colorado State University, Colorado Mesa University, Front Range Community College, Metropolitan State University of Denver, Pikes Peak State College, University of Denver and University of Northern Colorado**.

During the 20-minute forum, FoxTalk moderator Piper Mussato and reporters from *The Front Page* at Front Range Community College, *The Catalyst* at Colorado College, *The Criterion* at Colorado Mesa University and *The Echo* at Pikes Peak State College questioned Marx about public safety, criminal sentencing, education funding, political disagreements, religious freedom on campus and the value of a college degree.

“We didn't want Colorado student journalists sitting on the sidelines of the governor's race,” said **Andy Green, editor-in-chief of FoxTalk**. “We built a forum where they could put their own questions directly to a candidate, take the answers back to their campuses and give young voters more to work with when deciding who deserves their vote.”

The forum offered an additional channel for direct campaign access. Before the event, FoxTalk had independently verified live, spoken interviews with Marx by just four Colorado news organizations since the June 30 primary. That number refers to interviews FoxTalk could document, not a claim that no other interviews took place.

The event follows FoxTalk's recent virtual press conference with Sundance Institute leadership, which brought together reporters from five Colorado college newsrooms. FoxTalk has also sought separate student press interviews with other candidates for governor.

FoxTalk plans to publish interview materials at [**readfoxtalk.com**](https://www.readfoxtalk.com/) following editorial and recording checks.
